Stories first. everything else later. Everyone has a story to tell. Few have the nerve to share. No matter where you are in your writing process, I am here to serve as your counsel, mentor, guide, cheerleader.
My name is Michaela Dunn, and I am professional editor and proofreader currently based in the state of Wyoming.
I specialize working with independent authors of Young Adult Fiction, Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, Children's Books, and magazine publications.
I taught English Language Arts to middle school students. I worked closely with them to learn critical thinking skills, analyzing skills, and writing skills. For each step in the processes of learning, I provided constructive feedback to challenge their thinking and build their skills.
Before teaching, I worked as a writer and editor for counseling centers in the Denver Metro Area. I wrote forms and contracts, updated and edited all paperwork to be in compliance with the governing boards.
I also have experience as a print shop proofreader where I ensured correct spelling and typesetting for various local business before sending to the press.
I spend most of my free time with my two little girls: reading stories (my girls share my love of stories), playing games, and baking. When I have my own personal time, I consume books and video games. I have a particular interest in medieval history and Greek/Roman mythology.
I love traveling with my family, writing fiction, and snuggling with my big, black monster cat.
